On Sept. 14, 2008, the Boston University community lost an adored member of its faculty. Jack Falla was an exceptional author, a gifted professor and a dedicated mentor. He loved to teach and motivate his students through his experiences and stories from his travails as a sportswriter. Jack, a two-time College of Communication alum (BS ’67 & MS ’90), had most recently published two books, Saved and Open Ice: Reflections and Confessions of a Hockey Lifer. Our sympathies go out to his entire family, including wife Barbara, son Brian, daughter Tracey and beloved grandchildren Demetre and Ella. A teacher, mentor and friend, he was COM’s hat trick.
